I believe basic health care is a right. I was fortunate to have quality health care under my father’s union benefits. It is something he fought for, but not something we should have to fight for. Regardless of employment status, everyone has a right to access basic health care. This access must include mental and behavioral health care coverage. I have been named a champion of universal health care by the Colorado Foundation for Universal Health Care for demonstrating a consistent commitment to universal health care. I have received awards and recognitions from national organizations for my mental and behavioral health legislation. At the Capitol, I work to expand this right in Colorado.
